I can't recall where I found this next idea at...most likely Pinterest. Its a DIY activity book for kids while flying (would also work for road trips). Just take a three ring binder, added some paper, coloring/activity pages (found randomly online, see below for the ones I found), stickers and tadaa! I found the following activity and coloring pages here:The Frozen and Princess Packs are available at Over the Big Moon. (She has some other cool pre-K packs too!!). I also made these little activity containers for while we are in Disney. My girls like to go go go, so I made several of these for when we go out to eat and need to wait for our food or if we need to take a rest. I saved my Crystal Light containers, printed off 1/2 sheets of coloring pages (http://www.colouring-page.org/), added a pack of crayons to each and in some of them I added s sheet or two of stickers.

Today I kept it simple since we started dance and we are only in our second week into school. I printed off some Disney coloring pages I found, here. While the girls colored rounded up a few things and got our luggage out.
Today is another Disney Dinner and a Movie night featuring Wreck it Ralph. And since it was Labor Day, we had to have something cooked on the grill! Here is our complete menu:
Today starts our official count down to Disney and is our first Disney Dinner and a Movie night. I had so much fun planning these, I can't wait to share them. Tonight our dinner was Toy Story themed and we just started watching Toy Story 2!
Here was our menu for tonight:
I think it goes without saying that I knew the girls would be over joyed when we told them we were going to Disney...but to add to the fun I decided to do a big reveal and a countdown. Throughout the summer I have been stocking up on goodies for our trip (the $1 store, 5 Below and Michael's and I have become good friends)! I have read plenty on things to buy before you go...here are some of the goodies I purchased to take along with us:
The girls have been working hard at earning their Disney Dollars. To announce the trip I found backpacks with their favorite princesses (which they will use for their carry ons) and had gotten them each a mini doll cake (the cakes were made by Shannon's Creations) and note from their favorite princess. Big Bee's note was from Ariel and Little Bee's note was from Elsa (you will see this theme of their princess carried for the rest of our countdown!). They are both excited!!! To help us countdown I found a cute idea for a paper chain countdown that I couldn't pass up from Grey Luster Girl. Must be for my LOVE of Mickey Mouse. On the inside of mine I placed an activity for the day, there were a few days were the girls got a small gift so i marked those as "Disney Gift". More of our countdown to come! DISNEY OR BUST!
Last year we wanted to start a garden, so we could produce some nice fresh veggies over the summer....we failed! Our seedlings did great, but didn't work so well transplanting them outside. This year we are back at it, with hopefully more success. We are going to attempt starting from seeds again and if that fails - we will buy ones already started! Today we started our seeds. Check out the Target $1 bins for the little containers we used. We planted pumpkins, green peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, watermelon and winter squash. I also found these cute little flower cups in the $1 bins at Target. We did some last year too, they are packaged so nicely with a compressed pellet of soil, add a tablespoon of warm water and poof! magic soil. After all that planting we decided to make a special treat for the birds. Bummer I forgot to grab a pic of the birds nest that was made in our watering can. The girls for the past few weeks have told me, "Mom there are sticks in there". I never took a look until this past week and yes lots of sticks in there. That bird is living snug in there. We haven't been able to see if there are any eggs in there but I am guessing there are. On to our treat. We covered empty toilet paper rolls with peanut better then rolled them in a bird seed mix. The girls each made two, we placed two of them on trees in the backyard and the other two we placed in the little bird feeder/bath that my big bee made at the Home Depot a few weeks ago with Daddy Bee. After dinner we ended the evening with a visit to the Penn State Arboretum and a trip to the Creamery. Check out some sneak peaks of what will be the NEW Childrens' Garden.
It was so nice to see the SUN and feel its warmth!!! We went to Spring Creek Park for a fun craft that will welcome the spring...a plant pal!!!! Supplies needed:
The kids had a great time decorating their cups and planting their seeds (and even more fun playing and running outside)! We had a variety of seeds...cilantro, oregano and parsley. I thought they might be better than doing grass, because they can actually be used later for cooking! I know they will all be excited when their pal starts to grow!!!
I know my kids aren't the only fans of the Disney Movie Frozen! They have been waiting patiently for us to own the movie (thankful for youtube and the soundtrack to get us through!). FINALLY the day has arrived. Last week I thought it would be lots of fun to do a Frozen Release Party for the girls. One afternoon of brainstorming then a trip to the store for some supplies and this is how it went down...(links for the ideas I used are listed at the bottom). I found some super cool glittery foam for Elsa's Crown/brown foam for antlers, a cute pack of felt & rhinestones for the barrettes and last but not least the fabric and ribbon for Elsa's cape...with glitter, lots and lots of glitter. Also on a quick trip to Wal-Mart passing by the girls section, they had cute blue tops on clearance for $3 and I couldn't resist. They received these PAR-TY invites along with their new shirt and 2 felt hair clips/headbands this morning. Excitement!!! I'm sure their teachers probably want to slap me getting them all excited and then going to school and having to wait all day. We all got home from work and school and got dinner ready. ![]() While dinner cooked we colored a Frozen coloring page. Dinner turned out great. I then gave them a special gift...Elsa's shiny, glittery cape (extreme happiness!). And no princess is complete without a crown. Aunt JJ and I got Sven's antlers! Evening bath with their Olaf towels (a Vday gift I made). And now for the main event, with snowballs and hot chocolate by our side! Sources for my ideas and other fun things!:
We seem to be in a season of new babies. Friends of ours are expecting any day! We had their other two children over for some play time. While the kids love to play, I knew they would also love a little project. I found these Crayola Fabric markers at Target I cut out large white squares for each of the kiddos. I used large masking tape to hold them on the table for them while they made their master pieces! After they were complete, I used the setting instructions on the back of the marker box to set the color into the fabric. I opted for the 4 minutes with the iron (just to be safe I sandwiched the square between to pieces of scrap fabric). Since I had cut the squares prior, there wasn't much trimming up I needed to do. I was going to purchase some ribbon for the tags....good thing I didn't, I had more than enough! I cut the ribbon into apx 4-inch sections, I had 6 different colors and decided to do 2 per side and leave the bottom clear (and that is also were I left opened for turning) . I found some flannel that I used for the backing, by some miracle they were already cut pretty close to the size I needed. I tacked the ribbons inward on the fabric (the picture side) with pins, added the back and stitched around starting at the bottom going to the side, top, down the next side and finishing on the bottom edge. Make sure to leave an opening to turn right side out. Turn right side out, fold the opening towards each and fold, stitch close the opening – I continued the stitch around the whole blankie. Here are the proud artist and their work. Makes a great keepsake gift for the new mommy-to-be!
