We seem to be in a season of new babies. Friends of ours are expecting any day! We had their other two children over for some play time. While the kids love to play, I knew they would also love a little project. I found these Crayola Fabric markers at Target
I cut out large white squares for each of the kiddos. I used large masking tape to hold them on the table for them while they made their master pieces!
After they were complete, I used the setting instructions on the back of the marker box to set the color into the fabric. I opted for the 4 minutes with the iron (just to be safe I sandwiched the square between to pieces of scrap fabric). Since I had cut the squares prior, there wasn't much trimming up I needed to do.
I was going to purchase some ribbon for the tags....good thing I didn't, I had more than enough! I cut the ribbon into apx 4-inch sections, I had 6 different colors and decided to do 2 per side and leave the bottom clear (and that is also were I left opened for turning) . I found some flannel that I used for the backing, by some miracle they were already cut pretty close to the size I needed. I tacked the ribbons inward on the fabric (the picture side) with pins, added the back and stitched around starting at the bottom going to the side, top, down the next side and finishing on the bottom edge. Make sure to leave an opening to turn right side out. Turn right side out, fold the opening towards each and fold, stitch close the opening – I continued the stitch around the whole blankie. Here are the proud artist and their work.
Makes a great keepsake gift for the new mommy-to-be!
